Inaugurated by the President of the Republic in May 2015, the ACTe Memorial is the Caribbean Center for Expression and Remembrance of the Slave Trade and Slavery, with an architecture unique in the Caribbean.
Educational and accessible, the ACTe Memorial – built on the site of the former Darboussier sugar factory – offers several discovery areas:
- a 1700 m² permanent exhibition
- a space dedicated to contemporary artistic creation through temporary exhibitions
- a panoramic garden, Morne Mémoire, with views of the ocean, the mountains of Basse-Terre and Pointe-à-Pitre bay.
- a monumental footbridge (12 m high, 275 m long) links Morne Mémoire to the rest of the structure.
